Department of Technology and Technological Education

The Department of the Principles of Industrial Manufacturing was established in 1959 and existed until 1966. There were several heads of the department: Senior Lect. Valerijonas Stonys (1959-1961), Engineer senior Lect. Vinas Mažrimas (1961-1962), Physicist Vytautas Pocius (1962-1966).
On September 1, 1978, the department adopted a more technical profile and was renamed to the Department of Technical Disciplines. The department was headed by Assoc. Prof. Vincas Mažutis. In 1983 the Department of Technical Disciplines was reorganised into two separate departments: Technical Disciplines and Manufacture Education. The former was headed by Assoc. Prof. Rimantas Petrauskas (1983-1986), and after that by Assoc. Prof. Teodoras Narbutas (1986-1994).

From April 27, 2005 the Department of Technical Disciplines was renamed to the Department of General Technology, which was headed by Assoc. Prof. Jonas Tiškevičius. On January 1, 2013 the department was merged with a part of the Department of Chemistry and Technological Education to form the Department of Technology and Technological Education.

The department cooperates with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (China), Korea Institute of Science and Technology (South Korea), University of Paderborn (Germany) and University of Hanover (Germany).

Offered study programmes

Undergraduate: Technology Education. Full-time (4 years) and part-time (5.5 years) studies, 240 ECTS credits.
Master: Educology of Technologies. Full-time studies of 2 years, 120 ECTS credits.

For foreign students, these subjects are offered in English: Consumer Education, Food Technology, Gastrointestinal Physiology and Nutrition, Integrated Project-Based Teaching, Sewing Design.
